Friends Of Strathaven Castle applied through our local Scotmid for a Community Grant. We were awarded £500. This grant helped us enormously with the expenses involved in setting up displays at our own Open Day in Strathaven Community Wing, and at Strathaven Gala. These events helped us to prove the high level of community support for preserving Strathaven Castle and making it safe to open to the public again as a much loved and valuable community resource and iconic symbol of our town.
Being able to demonstrate that level of community engagement and support has in turn proved invaluable in our further grant applications. We are very grateful to Scotmid for this support
